Prayer: A Cry for Mercy for the Persecuted

Bible Text: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." - Matthew 5:7.

Most High God,  

I come before You with a heavy heart, lifting up my brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering for their faith in You. Your Word in Matthew 5:7 reminds us that the merciful are blessed, for they will be shown mercy. Today, I intercede on behalf of those who are persecuted, asking for Your mercy to strengthen, protect, and deliver them.  

Lord, You see the pain and suffering of Your children—those who are imprisoned, beaten, or even killed for proclaiming Your name. You hear their cries and know their struggles. I ask for Your mercy to surround them, to give them courage in the face of fear, and to remind them that they are never alone. Be their refuge and strength, their ever-present help in trouble.  

Father, I pray for those who are enduring unimaginable hardships. Comfort them in their suffering, sustain them with Your peace, and provide for their needs in miraculous ways. Let them feel Your presence in the darkest moments, and give them the assurance that their faithfulness is not in vain.  

Lord, I also pray for their persecutors. Soften their hearts, open their eyes to the truth of Your love, and bring them to repentance. Let Your mercy triumph over judgment, and may even those who oppose Your people come to know You as their Savior.  

Thank You, Lord, for the promise that those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake are blessed, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Thank You for the courage and faith of these believers, who inspire us to stand firm in our own walk with You.  

Help me to remember the persecuted in my prayers and actions, to be a voice for the voiceless, and to extend mercy and compassion to those in need. May Your church stand united in love and support for one another, reflecting Your heart to the world.

God of All Creation,   I come before You with a heart seeking direction, knowing that my steps are uncertain without Your guidance.
