Prayer: A Petition for Mercy and Justice

Bible Text: "The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed." - Psalm 103:6.

God of the Oppressed,  

I come before You with a heart burdened for those who are suffering under the weight of injustice, cruelty, and oppression. Your Word in Psalm 103:6 declares that You work righteousness and justice for all the oppressed, and I cry out to You today, asking for Your mercy to bring relief, freedom, and justice to those who are hurting.  

Lord, You see the pain of the marginalized, the cries of the downtrodden, and the struggles of those who are denied their dignity and rights. You hear the voices that the world ignores, and You feel the pain that others overlook. I ask for Your mercy to intervene, to break the chains of oppression, and to bring hope to those who feel forgotten.  

Father, I pray for justice to roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Expose the systems and structures that perpetuate oppression, and bring them to ruin. Raise up advocates, leaders, and voices who will fight for the rights of the oppressed and who will reflect Your heart of compassion and justice. 

Lord, I also pray for those who are suffering—for the children who are exploited, the women who are abused, the men who are enslaved, and the communities that are crushed under the weight of injustice. Comfort them in their pain, provide for their needs, and give them the strength to endure. Let them feel Your presence and know that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of the oppressed.  

Thank You, Lord, for being a God of justice and mercy, who defends the weak and upholds the cause of the vulnerable. Thank You for the promise that You will not forget the cries of the oppressed and that You will bring about Your righteous judgment in Your perfect timing.  

Help me to be a voice for the voiceless, to stand with the oppressed, and to work toward justice and equality in my own sphere of influence. May Your mercy and justice be evident in my life, bringing glory to Your name.
